John Collee has written or co-written a number of successful, award-winning features including the Oscar winning “Happy Feet”, the Oscar nominated “Master and Commander” and most recently “Creation" starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly.His most recent animated film – an $80M 3-D version of “Walking With Dinosaurs” - is in production at Animal Logic, and he is currently overseeing various live action projects in development at Hopscotch.
John studied medicine in Edinburgh, Scotland, and subsequently worked as a doctor in the UK and various developing countries. From 1991-96 he wrote a weekly column for The Observer Newspaper, UK. His published novels include Kingsley’s Touch, A Paper Mask and The Rig, all published by Penguin in the UK and USA. His adaptation of A Paper Mask was his first produced feature film. He is now creative director of Hopscotch Features and a director of the climate action group 350.org Australia.
